Reviews for Haunted

This series gets better and better, with Haunted being my favourite so far…

I have been compelled to read Ms. Embleton’s series and I am a willing victim. They are thrilling and addictive. But for me Haunted has been the most thrilling of the three. And I do love vampires.

Tori is an incredible character - fierce and loyal when needed, soft and emotional as required. She's exactly what I would imagine when I think of a vampire.

There are twists and turns, drama and romance, violence and near death experiences. It's a roller-coaster of a book that I think shows the greatness of this series. I'm so invested in Julie's characters that I just want to keep reading about them.

The book is a stunning combination of exciting action and well-crafted characters set in a credible modern fantasy world. I loved the tension, the interaction between the werewolves and the main character, Tori, and the clever twists.

Compulsive, touching, and full of pace and drama – just fab!

Following immediately on from the cliffhanger ending of Released, Haunted moves the story firmly into the province of vampire Tori as she stalks her wolf friend, Graham, rightly believing that he's up to no good. The past is about to rise once more and this time it's not just the wolves who will be rocked by shocking revelations.

What I love about this series is the different feel of each book, matching the change of central character. Tori's vibrant past clashes with her love for her friend and the looming romance with a wolf, but Embleton throws twist after twist at the reader, confounding expectation. Haunted indeed.

Tori is my kind of girl, independent, strong-willed and courageous. She suffers a great deal in the story, physically and emotionally, and you feel for her all the way. She is also compassionate and loyal and has fallen for the attractive werewolf, Blake. Werewolves and vampires aren’t supposed to mix, but in Haunted, barriers are meant to be broken.

Haunted has an amazing plot. Motives aren’t what they appear to be and secrets are everywhere, but as they unfold you are stunned and yet see the new logic. The overall story of the werewolves is wonderfully integrated with Tori’s. It is hard to say more as giving any of these plot twists away is not what a review is meant to do. It is meant to compel you to read the book. Please do!

Werewolves, vampires and witches. OH, MY! This is Tori’s story. And OMG! What a story it is!

No spoilers here. But I will tell you that Tori has some unfinished business to attend to if she chooses to have a life...even a vampire one. With that being said, there seems to be something between Tori and... Nah, you’re going to have to read the book. But you still won’t really know. And perhaps that is for the best. Then there’s Nick eyeing up Lola... And, what’s the deal with Joan Clancy, Genna’s mother? There’s something there, too. Will we eventually know??? Three question marks for three questions. This was the fastest read book of the series. I literally inhaled it in a day.
