Gripping Historical Fantasy

Book Review: A Flutter on the Wind by M.A. Maddock

Front cover of the historical fantasy novel A Flutter on the Wind by MA Maddock

A Flutter on the Wind, book 3 of the Sixth Amulet series, delivers even more adventure, danger, and loss, all which make for yet another page-turner in this epic historical fantasy.

Maddock has built a fantastic world in this series. From her characters, to the backdrop, to the world-building, fans of George R.R. Martin and Tolkien will feel right at home.

I came into the third instalment of this gripping historical fantasy with demands for certain characters, and while Maddock threw curveballs, I came away fully satisfied. I read the author had written a number of different endings for this book before choosing the final, but what a finish she settled upon! I read the final few chapters with such anticipation—and dread—my heart was galloping. Book 4 is underway, and with the suspense that closes out this instalment, I’ll be impatiently waiting.
