‘Where Ava’s taste leaned towards lighter tones, natural woods, and the greens of her countless plants, Iseult’s embraced a darker palette. Gothic from ceiling to floor, the air practically hummed against Enzo’s skin. While the artwork and nick-knacks were for the most part benign, Iseult’s energy stalked the room, silently protecting her home.

A few items caught his eye as he perused shelves; a rare and incredibly expensive black opal scrying ball inside a perspex case, and on the shelf above it, a porcelain doll decked out in red lace. Iseult had bound the bewitched toy with an onyx pendant and a knot of dried herbs, but the doll’s dangerously sharp eyes clicked in annoyance as it followed Enzo’s movement around the room.’

I had so much fun imagining Iseult’s home while writing Hematite & Hemlock! The delicious gothic vibes practically wrote themselves—dark, moody, and filled with intriguing treasures. 🖤✨
